Are you still looking to find a Nintendo NES Classic Edition console, but don’t want to pay upwards of four times the retail price on eBay or Craigslist? Well, get in line. Everybody and their grandma wants the retro console and Nintendo seemingly just loves toying with gamers when it comes to initial supplies over and over again.
However, there are reinforcements on the way, and they are coming from the most bizarre retailer that we could imagine when it comes to console sales. No, we’re not talking about Best Buy, Amazon or even Toys R Us — instead, you’ll have to venture to Urban Outfitters. Yes, you heard that correctly; the same retailer that dabbles in often kitschy and hipster apparel will have the console in stock starting tomorrow.
"Urban Outfitters is pleased to announce that we will be carrying a limited inventory of Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition console," said Urban Outfitters in a statement. "The highly sought-after game system will be available online at UrbanOutfitters.com on December 6th. The product will not be available in store."
There are just a few caveats we have to add to this latest chance to score an NES Classic Edition at retail price before the holiday season comes to a close. 1.)We don’t know when exactly the sales will start at UrbanOutfitters.com. All we know is that it will occur sometime on Tuesday. 2.) As mentioned above, this is an online-only affair, so don’t bother camping out overnight at a brick and mortar store. 3.) Make sure you already have an account registered at the site, to expedite the purchasing process. 4.) The console will sell out within seconds so if you blink, you’ll miss it. If you get one in your online shopping cart, have your credit card ready and check out ASAP - like as fast as your fingers can move.
**Update: 12/6/2016 12:30AM - There are random reports of the Urban Outfitters site going unresponsive. So far we've seen it still alive and serving pages. However, you might want to check Music and Tech or Fun and Games pages in addition to the front page, as those are the likely product categories the retro gaming system should drop into.
With that said, you can probably increase your chances of scoring a console if you go ahead and create an account. That way you can get all of your billing and shipping information input so that you can simply add the item to your car and hopefully checkout at lightning-fast speeds.
For those that have been living under a rock for the past few months, the NES Classic Edition is a miniature version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System that comes pre-installed with 30 games. It comes with one wired controller and connects to your modern HDTV with an HDMI cable.
